Introduction

The mineral component comprises the bulk of the solid fraction of most soils. The range of possible minerals is enormous.

Fortunately for us, however, much of the behavior of soils can be understood with knowledge of a few common minerals, their crystal structures, and how they interact with soil environments.

If you are looking at this module for the first time, I suggest you work through the sidebar buttons in order.
