Sheep camp effect

Herbivores alter the spatial distribution of nutrients by grazing over a wide area and then depositing nutrients on small areas of the soil surface in concentrated form.

These patches of dung and urine may be far from evenly distributed over the landscape. For example, the tendency of sheep to graze at the highest corner of a paddock results in greater nutrient returns there - the "sheep camp effect".
